I couldn’t find the original recipe for this so I went by memory. It wasn’t as good as I remember but still good. I wasn’t feeling as inspired this Thanksgiving. Maybe because I miss not having my big family table. We were sitting on the couch and living room chairs using the coffee table, using the small table by the window and a card table in our NYC apartment. It sounds like I am complaining. But Kaimi brought something that blew my mind! Kaimi made a deep fried brined turkey that was the highlight of my meal. Its funny usually the turkey is not my favorite part of Thanksgiving but this year it was! I don’t have his recipe and since my blog is about stuff I make this won’t get its own post but needed to be mentioned somewhere. I plan get his recipe for the brine deep fry a turkey in our backyard in Laguna next year just like this. Anyway, back to the brussel sprouts.
It looks like I must have used some sort of ham because this doesn’t look like pancetta. There are shallots, onions and garlic sautéed in olive oil. The brussel sprouts got thrown in until they were cooked and this is what I got. I can do better than this. I need to follow a recipe exactly next time. But I still do love brussel sprouts.
But check out Kaimi’s deep fried brined turkey! He said there some orange juice and other stuff in the brine and I could actually taste a bit of the orange. It was amazing. I couldn’t stop eating the skin which blew my mind. Below is the Thanksgiving spread and my plate of food. Get ready for next Thanksgiving in our Laguna house next year. I will be going all out! And a deep fried turkey is going to be part of it!
