It seems every time I buy a baguette it ends up rock hard the next day. This is what I do to not feel guilty, plus I love french toast! I use milk, eggs, vanilla (lots) and cinnamon for the mixture to soak the bread in.

Chicken, broccoli, roasted tomato, herbed cheese omelette
Omelettes are a window to what is in my refrigerator at the moment. Fairway has delicious Australian roasted tomatoes that I like to buy. I had Boursin cheese which was interesting in the omelette, too. This one was kind of chunky and I think the best ones I have made have more fresh herbs and bacon.
Fried Eggs with Rosemary Ham
This kind of speaks for itself. The Trader Joes Rosemary ham again. I think I hit my max with it and have moved on now. Still good. Just had a little too much lately.
Trail mix whole wheat rolls and granola
This is a clean out the cupboards type of day but they turned out great! I was trying to get more room in the cupboard and had so many partially used bags of different nuts and dried fruits used for various recipes. I cut up a fresh apple, added dried apricots, dried cranberries, pecans, cashews, sunflower seeds, almond slivers, cleaned…
Banana Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
I love to make buttermilk pancakes with fresh buttermilk but when I have tons of overripe bananas and blueberries this is what you get. I guess I am going through a buttermilk pancake phase now trying to perfect it and experiment with possible variations. These have a sprinkle of coconut sugar on top. Not a good idea. It turned to burnt…
Mama Lachute’s Blackberry Dumplings
Once I read this recipe I couldn’t get it out of my mind. I have never heard of boiling dumplings in a blackberry syrup. I had a ton of blackberries that were too tart to eat alone. And I just had to see what this was all about! It was delicious! I couldn’t stop eating these and knew I shouldn’t,…
Apple Pancake
I haven’t made this for a while! It turned out great in my new ScanPan! I don’t have an exact recipe for the apples. I peeled and cut up 2 medium apples and sauteed them with butter (maybe 3 or 4 TBS) and generous sprinkle of cinnamon and a chunk of brown sugar (1/4 to 1/3 cup). As this was…
Fish Head Omelette!
Omelettes can be almost anything. Well, one morning after having dinner at a very authentic Chinese restaurant we had some leftovers and Roger proceeded to make an omelette. Truthfully, I was kind of grossed out but the seasonings in the fish were great! The fish head is just something I am not that used to! He picked through everything and…
Torte Milanese – a 15 year procrastination!
I got this great Julia Child Baking cookbook from a friend and saw this recipe and dreamed about making it. Not until 15 years later did I decide to try it, inspired by Henry’s “just go for it in the kitchen” attitude. Here are the pictures from my creation. It looked very much like the pictures and tasted great. Not…
